Maybe it isn’t really choice but lack of awareness that allows us to hold onto things that are no longer right for us. From weeds in your garden that you never get around to pulling, maybe it’s a pair of jeans from high school taking up space in our closet or a needy friend who consumes your time with problems they have no intention of ever solving, these things take up space and time and you need to make different choices to open space in your life.
Maybe now is the time for you. Do you feel like it’s time to rid yourself of things that are no longer a part of you. It is up to each of us ~ it is our choice, we can either fill space with things that enrich us or we can look away and allow things to continue as they are.
We all need spots that are empty so that we can breathe and have space to choose something new, something we truly love and provides value to our lives.
We must on a regular basis simplify our lives by getting rid of things that no longer are right for us.
The word simplify is often thought of as depriving yourself of something. I think of it as having less of things that are not right for me. Too often we hold onto things that have no meaning, hold no value to us, or maybe we have outgrown them.
Time to clean house and pull the weeds that are growing in your garden. Give the flowers space to bloom.
Now I am not saying drop all your friends and get rid of all your possessions but there are people who latch onto you and consume your time, energy and thoughts and take up space. There are possessions that will take up space and make you feel like you have abundance in your life when all you really just have stuff that fills a space.
Maybe you realize what is happening and maybe you don’t.
Either way it is really ok to say this isn’t for me any longer and move onto something or someone that makes you happier and enriches your life. Being aware is the first step and the questions you ask yourself will be very important.
The first question will be ~ what is not working for me and what no longer feels right ~
There may be more than one thing that you feel is off, so write them out and move to the next question.
What on this list would have the most impact upon my well-being?
Keeping motivated to make the choices daily that will change your life are often easier when you feel the change quickly so choosing something that will move you off your stuck spot is often a more motivating choice.
Then notice how you feel. Sometimes space or free time is uncomfortable so move into it and acknowledge that it feels different but refuse to fill it until you no longer feel the need to fill it.
You may find as I have that quantity in many things including friends and possessions never replaces quality!
